Saturday was my birthday. Ray told me it was going to be one of my best birthdays ever, but I didn't really believe him. I should have.
Ray took the family to IHOP for breakfast, which was such a treat. We rarely go out to eat, and we
never go out for breakfast.
Then, he surprised us with a trip to Mt. Charleston to play in the snow. I really didn't expect that, and it was such a fun treat. The drive was absolutely gorgeous, and the kids were thrilled to get to play in the snow. Megan hadn't ever seen snow before, and I don't think Drew remembered it at all. The boys loved it, and immediately began to tromp through the deep parts (probably 2 feet or so) and make snowballs. Megan, on the other hand, refused to walk unless someone was holding her hand. And she wasn't terribly interested in touching it. She said it was too wet and cold. She still had a lot of fun though. We didn't stay very long, but it was incredibly fun.
After naps, we went to church for our young couples Bible study, and I found that a friend had made me a cake and brought me a gift! She picked out the perfect thing for me too. A set of small journals. See
this post if you don't know why that gift is so perfect.
After Bible study, Ray and I were able to go out for two hours sans kiddos. What a wonderful way to end the day. Ray had it all planned out, and although it didn't go exactly as he had planned (we couldn't find Coldstone) I still had such a wonderful time. It was so nice to cap off the day with some alone time with Ray.
Anyhow, I'm sure all (two) of you are bored of reading this by now, and just want to see the awesome Mt. Charleston pics. So here ya go...
And although I REALLY love pictures of the kids, I especially enjoyed the pictures of my big kids in this batch. Thanks.
