Travel Pillows

I'm on a roll this week, huh? Haven't ever posted so many sewing projects so close together!

This morning I made three little travel pillows for the kids. Since we will be traveling over night, the kids will have to sleep for quite a while in the car. Hopefully these little pillows will make them a bit more comfortable.

Three More Crayon Rolls

I love these things. I think they are so useful, and just so stinkin' cute! I've made a bunch of them in the past, but somehow, until today, I'd never made any for MY kids. 4 Little Aprons

On Friday we'll be leaving to visit the great, humid land that is called Omaha, Nebraska. While there, we always do all sorts of fun activities. One of the things that the kids enjoy the most, is helping Ma in the kitchen. She often lets them make cookies, frosting, pizza, and other things that more often than not end up unidentifiable. But the kids always have a great time.

VBS

VBS started last night! Our church is doing it a bit differently this year, and is having it for 5 consecutive Wednesday nights.

Yesterday morning, I stopped by the church and picked up the kids t-shirts. I bought Megan a bigger one so that I could cut it up and turn it into a cute dress. And this is where the drama began...

Blue and Gold Apron

I made my mom an apron! She works at a school whose colors are blue and gold, and whose mascot is a shark. She had to decorate a bunch of cookies at the school, and wanted a cute apron to wear. I, of course, was happy to oblige. Especially since it required a special trip to the fabric store.

Swap and Hop

As most of you know, I have a weakness when it comes to fabric. I kind of love it. Sometimes I go into the fabric store just to touch all of the different textures (I swear that's the only reason...it's not because I have a 40% off coupon or because novelty prints are 20% off...).

I will admit, however, that my own fabric stash has grown a bit out of hand this past year. Okay...a LOT out of hand.

Now, before you read any more, I need to say that the rest of my house really is pretty clean. I've been working hard to get it clean, and keep it that way. You'll have to trust me that this closet is the exception in my house.

Mommy and Me

Today I made matching Mommy and Me aprons. I really like Megan's, but am not so excited about mine. Maybe if I was to lose some weight, I'd like it better.

Easter clothes

Ray and I decided to go with blue as our color of choice this Easter. Last year it was yellow (which really was kind of ugly on the guys), and the year before it was green. Since Ray already has a nice blue shirt, we decided that blue was the way to go this year.

It was also decided that the boys would get new blue dress shirts and ties. They've been begging to wear a tie like daddy for a while now, so we decided that Easter was the perfect occasion.

I knew I wanted to make something matching for Megan and me, so off to the fabric store I went.

Tying up loose ends

My first project was to make something fabulous from an old DCU shirt. A friend asked me to do this forever ago, and so it was past due.

Quilted Easter Wall Hanging

This Easter project was kind of a learning experience for me. I haven't done much with appliqué in the past, and obviously this project has 6 of them. I also learned a lot about what my sewing machine can do (such as the blanket stitch I used around the shapes).

Quilt for Ray

I made Ray a quilt for Christmas! I completed it start to finish in a week and a half. It was crunch time at the end, because I really wanted to have it under the tree on Christmas, but it was totally worth it.

The top is made of quilters cotton, and the back is made of very fine wale corduroy. It's very soft, and perfect for cuddling up with on a cold day.
