Happy Birthday, Ma!

Today is my mom's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM!! The kids wanted to have a little party in her honor, so we made her a cake. The kids wondered what had happened to me when I told them they were actually going to decorate the cake themselves. (I never do messy activities with my kids.) They did a pretty good job, if I may say so myself!

51's Game

Tonight we went to a 51's baseball game. We went with a group from church, and had a really good time. It was super hot (115ish) and the game didn't start until 7, so it made for a late night. But the kids were awesome, and really enjoyed themselves.

VBS

We visited another church this week for VBS. Our church is having a 5 week VBS this year, and I wanted the kids to experience a weeklong one. We all had a blast. This VBS was held at Green Valley Baptist Church. They had over 300 kids in attendance! They also had a VBS for Mom's to attend while the kids were in class. I really enjoyed that and made a lot of new friends.

More fun at the pool

I know it's been a while since we've given you some pictures to look at. We've actually taken quite a few recently, but we've been having so much fun making picture worthy memories that we haven't taken the time to share them with you.

We've been going down to the pool pretty much every chance we get. The kids are completely confident now (sometimes too confident), which makes it a lot more fun.

Laura has been at her homeschool convention yesterday and today, so I got to take the kids by myself both days. I forgot to take the camera yesterday, but since we finally found a deal on a new camera, I wasn't going to forget to play with the new toy.

Poor Baby

Poor little Megan had such a rough day. She woke up at 5:40am, needing her sheets and blankets changed out. I took care of her, and put her back to bed. Ten minutes later, she was screaming again. Her breathing was bad, so I gave her a treatment on her nebulizer. Didn't bother putting her back to bed after that because her meds always hype her up...no way would she sleep anyways. She was playing in the living room, and not a half hour later, she threw up all over the couch.

Petroglyph Canyon Trail

Today we went on another hike. We drove about an hour into the Valley of Fire, and found a small trail called Petroglyph Canyon Trail. This one was incredibly different than our last one, and the scenery was gorgeous. The trail was sandy, which made for a more difficult walk, but there were lots of nooks and crannies in the rocks for the kids to climb in.

Cubbies Closing Program

Seems like just yesterday the boys were starting Cubbies at our new church. But tonight, they had their closing program! Both boys finished their book, and received a certificate and a little bear for their vest. Please excuse their silly faces. I couldn't get a normal smile out of either of them. First Creek Canyon

Today our family went on a hike in First Creek Canyon. We had such a great time. The weather was gorgeous, and the kids were well behaved. I was surprised that the boys lasted the whole time. Two and a half hours is a long time to walk! But they were such troopers and did a great job.

It rained all day today. Obviously this is pretty rare in Vegas...being the desert and all. It did bring out a fun creature though. Ray brought him inside and let the kids feed him a piece of lettuce. AJ named him TR (no clue what it stands for), and everyone was very upset when we took him back outside and released him. Hail.

Today we had big plans to go on a hike in First Creek Canyon. We drove the 45 minutes to get there (was beautiful by the way), and walked for barely 5 minutes before the rain started. Another minute later, the sleet and hail started. We made a run for it back to the car. By the time we got in, we were all soaked to the bone. The kids (especially Drew) were not amused. Fun in the pool

We took the kids swimming again today. This time, I made sure to take the camera so I could get a few pictures before getting in myself! I bought each kid a pool noodle, and those were such a hit.

Our good friend Rick (Heather's husband) is a police officer in town. Tonight, he very graciously gave up his lunch break to spend time with our family and show the kids his car. The boys were so excited. Rick let them sit in the car, and AJ got to turn on the lights. It was a fun evening, and we are so thankful that Rick took the time to do that for our kids. Eggs

Well, it's that time of year again. We don't do the whole Easter bunny thing, but we do dye Easter eggs each year. This year was the most fun so far, because the kids are getting more and more independent and able to do it without help. Megan needed a lot of help, but the boys did it completely on their own with NO spills and NO broken eggs! Click through to see their creations.

Fun at the Park

Learning to Read

So, I (Laura) kind of hate Dr. Seuss. The rhyming, the weird people/animals...I don't know. The books just kind of freak me out. AJ, however, has decided that Hop on Pop is his favorite book right now. This particular book has a lot of simple words in it, so he is able to read it without too much frustration.
